With the amount of makeup available, these days, it can be quite overwhelming to choose makeup. A great option for narrowing down the choices is to know what makeup color scheme works best for you. This is typically determined by your eye color and complexion.
Eye Color
Blue eyes complement orange and earthy colors well, but do
not work with harsh greens or blues, since they lower the intensity of your
natural eye color.
Green eyes can benefit from using purple, pink and mauve
shades, but should steer clear of blue, as that does not enhance the eyes at
all.
Hazel-brown eyes suit gold, browns and greenish-grays but do
not complement halftones. This is one of the easier eye colors to play with, so
be sure to experiment with cheap makeup and find what shades work particularly
well for you.
Brown-black eyes are highlighted by deep, dark shades, such
as navy blue, plum, dark gray, black and brown. Light shades or pastel colors
will cause your eyes to look strange and washed out.
Complexion
The main varieties of complexion and skin tone are fair,
pale and dark skin.
Fair skin is complemented by pink, since it adds a radiant
sheen to the face, whereas metallic colors are too harsh.
Pale skin goes well with warm colors, such as apricot, but
will clash drastically with pink.
Dark skin can wear bronzy shades, metallic colors and pink,
as these all add light to the skin. One color to stay away from with dark skin
is matte orange.
